Audrey Krumenacker, BID ’18, was selected earlier this year to design the award for Legends 2017, Pratt Institute’s annual scholarship benefit supporting Pratt students and honoring creative icons whose works have helped shape the cultural landscape.

Each year, Pratt’s Department of Industrial Design works with the Division of Institutional Advancement on the annual Legends award design project. Adjunct Assistant Professor of Industrial Design and Pratt alumnus Alvaro Uribe, BID’10, chose Krumenacker to design the 2017 award based on her skills as well as the sense of curiosity and experimentation she brings to design, and worked with her through every stage of the project, from concept through completion.

Sharing the inspiration behind her design, this short video follows Krumenacker and Uribe on a one-day trip to Vermont, where she worked with glassblowers at Simon Pearce to realize her vision in creating the unique, handblown glass awards.
