Dwell's Editor in Chief Amanda Dameron recently quoted Lucia DeRespinis, industrial designer and adjunct industrial design professor, in her Editor's Note column on women in design. As a woman, DeRespinis faced assumptions about her technical proficiency. “Only once people understood I knew what I was doing did the whole prejudice of being a woman disappear.” She was also quoted as saying: “Whether or not someone is a good designer has nothing to do with gender. It has everything to do with the work that's been done. That's the only thing that makes the difference.” The column can be seen in the July/August 2012 issue.
