On Wednesday, November 16, Pratt Institute will present Legends 2016, an annual scholarship benefit supporting Pratt students and honoring creative icons whose works have helped shape the cultural landscape. Hosted this year against a sweeping backdrop of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline at the Mandarin Oriental New York, the event raises vital funds for undergraduate scholarships, as 80 percent of Pratt students receive financial aid to pursue their education.
Legends 2016 will honor sculptor Angela Conner, architect William T. Georgis, and founder and president of InterArch Shirley Hill.
Angela Conner is one of Britain’s most prolific sculptors who has created many of Europe’s vast mobile sculptures as well as life-like statues and portrait busts. Her kinetic sculptures often relate to environmental issues and forces of nature such as the sun, water, gravity, or wind to create gentle movement. Conner has exhibited internationally and has large-scale sculptures in public and private collections around the world.
William T. Georgis established his New York-based architecture and interior design firm in 1992. He has designed numerous residential projects, including townhouses, apartments, vacation houses, and a private jet. He has also designed the Tiffany & Co. Foundation Gallery at the Museum of the City of New York, restaurants, condominiums, and commercial projects. Georgis has been recognized by the AD 100, Architectural Digest’s international guide to the top 100 architects and interior designers, five times.
Shirley Hill, a Pratt Institute alumna, is the founder and president of InterArch, an international architecture, design, and branding firm that believes great design is a competitive weapon. Clients, both nationally and internationally, commission Hill and her team to create unique brands by blending architecture, design, marketing, and branding. InterArch has partnered with Metro Bank in London, the first new High Street retail bank in more than 175 years, to reinvent British banking with unique design and branding.
