A retrospective of large-scale photographs spanning 10 years of work by Taiwanese artist Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao (B.F.A. Photography ’03) is on view at the Museum of the City of New York until February 15, 2015.

Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao: Assembled Realities features more than 40 of Liao’s photographs of the ever-changing landscape of New York City. Combining multiple exposures of the same location taken over the course of several hours, Liao’s sweeping panoramas document the tremendous energy and diversity of New York City’s social and urban landscape, from the Grand Concourse in the Bronx to Coney Island in Brooklyn. Pushing the boundaries of traditional documentary photography, Liao’s composite photographs offer complex, hyper-real views that no single image could capture.

A book featuring Liao’s work, Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao: New York, was published in October 2014 and includes 100 of his New York photographs.
