The American Institute of Architects New York chapter has honored architecture and design firm form-ula, run by Architecture faculty Richard Sarrach and Ajmal Aqtash, with a 2014 New Practices New York award.
New Practices is a competition juried by architects and scholars that recognizes innovation from firms founded in the past decade. Winners receive the opportunity to participate in an exhibition and speak at a symposium at the Center for Architecture, and are also featured in The Architect's Newspaper, among other prizes.
Form-ula was founded in 2009 by Pratt alumni Tamaki Uchikawa (B. Arch. ’00), Richard Sarrach (B. Arch. ’01), and Ajmal Aqtash (B. Arch. ’02). The firm’s diverse projects include designing residences, religious facilities, retail spaces, and art installations. Aqtash and Sarrach also teach part-time at the Pratt School of Architecture.
